Amanda Palmer Playlist-Adventure : A Brief Intro Of Sorts To The Human Being Known As Amanda Fucking Palmer
(or rather, a to think about things in a together sort-of-way)
Amanda Palmer is a human being (as far as I am aware) and I enjoy her presence on this planet. She’s a fiercely feminist musician/writer/activist/goddess. You can check out her new Patreon here!
AFP is a v open person, with a slew of inhabited internet spaces, so I don’t think it’s really necessary for me to write out a bio.
I made this playlist for my roommate and gal pal Alex, but I think it’s a fairly good intro to Amanda Palmer as a musician.
I could, and probably will, talk more about the badassery that is Amanda Palmer, but I think this is a good place to start.
Listen To These:
I thought about you when I heard this song recently. I really like it. The only good version is a live recording. I think I like her better live. She has a specific energy.
Video was taken off Youtube because of nudity, I think. Lame. Her accompanying blog and tweets made it a fun experience. And Stoya, who is in the video, is a rad porn star (is that the pc, term?…googled, got stuck in a google trap and still don’t know so i’m moving on…). She has a instagram that is almost solely her cats and loves science fiction. Fun facts.
Really sad. But in a good way. I think you’ll think so, too.
The is in a compilation live recording. You could listen to the whole thing. It’s ‘An Evening With Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer*’ and they sing and Neil Gaiman recites poetry and short stories and it’s a lovely time. If you’re into that sort of thing. This song is beautiful and real. #books4life
This is from Amanda Palmer’s first band The Dresden Dolls. It’s the first song of hers I listened to. I was in middle school I think? Maybe you heard it, too.
(Depending on the time commitment you want to make to this you can continue on to these. The TED talk is like 12 minutes.)
Also, if you’re reading this and you aren’t Alex, you should definitely listen to ‘want it back.’
